By October 2025, a key fabrication milestone was reached for the Gennaker offshore wind farm’s electrical infrastructure when the first of its two offshore substation platforms was moved out of the construction hall at the Smulders yard in Vlissingen, the Netherlands. The platform, named OSS Darß, is part of the 976.5 MW Gennaker project developed by Skyborn Renewables. According to OffshoreWind.biz, OSS Darß had already been transported out of the construction hall in September and at that time weighed around 3,800 tonnes, with a length of 48 metres. The roll-out from the fabrication hall signals that topside manufacturing is at an advanced stage and that the substation is progressing towards subsequent phases such as final outfitting, testing, and preparation for load-out and offshore installation.
