On 15 September 2020, OX2 published the report "Galatea-Galene Wind Farm – Documentation for notification pursuant to Article 3 of the Espoo Convention", initiating the formal Espoo transboundary consultation for the Galatea‑Galene offshore wind project and its grid connection. The documentation describes the planned transmission of electricity from the wind farm to onshore connection points via offshore connection cables and associated transformer/converter stations, and outlines investigation corridors from the Kattegat wind farm area towards potential grid connection points east of Ringhals in Varberg municipality and at Häradsbo in Hylte municipality.
By September 2020, OX2 had initiated grid connection planning for the Galatea-Galene offshore wind farm, including the Galatea Export transmission system, with investigations ongoing to determine the most suitable onshore transmission grid connection point and export cable route corridors. Four approximately 4 km wide investigation corridors between the offshore wind areas and potential landfall/connection locations (including options east of Ringhals in Varberg municipality and at Häradsbo in Hylte municipality) were being examined and analysed in more detail, and proposed export cable corridors had been defined that would cross existing shipping lanes in the area.
