In 2020, FLOW Elnet A/S completed and commissioned a new 10 kV subsea cable between Skarø and Drejø, restoring supply following a cable fault that occurred in December 2018.
In 2019, SEF A/S initiated replacement works on a failed subsea cable between the islands of Skarø and Drejø, starting the installation of a new subsea power cable, with completion expected in early 2020.
In the summer of 1965, Sydfyns Elforsyning completed and energised a new electricity network linking Funen to the South Funen archipelago, including the cable route from Funen via Skarø to Drejø and onwards to Hjortø and Tåsinge, bringing grid power into operation for these islands. This marked the start of full commercial electricity supply to Drejø through the Funen–Drejø connection, celebrated locally with light festivals in the islands’ community halls.
