On 15 March 2023, Scottish Ministers granted consent under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 and a declaration under Section 36A for the single-turbine Forthwind Demonstration Project approximately 1.5 km off Methil, allowing development of a prototype turbine of up to 20 MW capacity.
