Five Estuaries is scheduled to commence its Archaeology Phase 2 Evaluation in April–May 2026, carrying out comprehensive trial-trench investigations along the onshore cable route from south of Little Clacton Road towards the private track Short Lane near the landfall compound area in the parish of Frinton and Walton. The works, undertaken on private land with landowner agreement as part of post-consent onshore site preparation, involve excavation of approximately 30m by 2m trenches across parts of the impacted area to understand existing archaeology and inform required mitigation before main construction.
