DELAYED +8mo (Apr 2026): No current source found confirming the April–May 2026 Phase 2 archaeological evaluation start along the Little Clacton Road–Short Lane landfall section. The only high-authority references available are DCO examination documents (Wessex Archaeology Archaeological Mitigation Strategy/OWSI) describing Phase 2 evaluation as post-consent work with a 2026 programme but without firm public start dates. With DCO granted Dec 2025, and given typical discharge-of-requirements/land access sequencing, moving this projection to ‘sometime in 2026’ is more defensible than a specific Apr–May window. --- In April–May 2026, Five Estuaries plans Phase 2 archaeological evaluation along a section of the onshore cable route south of Little Clacton Road towards Short Lane near the landfall area, involving comprehensive trial‑trench excavations to characterise archaeology and define any further mitigation prior to main construction.
