In 2015, a new subsea cable crossing Tjeldsundet associated with the Kvandal–Kanstadbotn 132 kV line was put into operation between Tjeldøya and Fiskøya, with the cable landfall on the west side moved from the former cable joint house on Slåttøya to a new terminal mast on Fiskøya, and the existing joint houses at Slåttøya and Langneset removed. The sea cable, commissioned in 2015, remains in service and is intended to be used by the renewed overhead line, rather than being replaced.
