Fenno‑Skan 1 400 kV HVDC submarine interconnector between Rauma (Finland) and Dannebo (Sweden), total route length 233 km (200 km subsea, 33 km overhead).
Nexans manufactured part of the high‑voltage direct current submarine cable for the original Fenno‑Skan 1 interconnector between Finland and Sweden. Working alongside ABB, Nexans supplied a portion of the 400 kV DC cable system forming the 233 km, 500 MW link commissioned in 1989. This role related to the construction phase and focused on the production and delivery of subsea HVDC cable for the Rauma–Dannebo route across the Gulf of Bothnia.
