DNV performed independent laboratory dissection and material testing on Fenno‑Skan 1 cable samples as part of a lead-diffusion investigation. The scope included receipt and photographic documentation of 1–3 m cable lengths, dissection to polymer sheath, sectioning for microtome cutting, SEM‑EDS and chemical analyses for lead diffusion, and targeted sampling of polymer sheath layers. The samples were identified in the report as originating from Fenno‑Skan 1 (owner listed as Fingrid/SVK). The work provided independent inspection and materials diagnostic evidence on the condition and composition of the submarine MI cable.
