On 15 May 2024, the project partners inaugurated the 500 MW Fécamp Offshore Wind Farm in Normandy and announced that it is now operational and able to supply low‑carbon electricity to around 770,000 people via its connection to the French national grid, indicating that the Fécamp export transmission system had entered full commercial operation.
Correll Group reported that it had been awarded a turnkey contract by Prysmian Group to perform pull‑in, termination, and testing of two approximately 17.5 km, 225 kV HVAC export cables to the offshore substation platform for the Fécamp Offshore Wind Farm, together with termination and testing of 71 33 kV array cables and two offshore substation inter‑connector cables.
By early April 2024, Correll Group had successfully executed the pull-in, termination and testing of two 225 kV HVAC export cables, each about 17.5 km long, to the offshore substation platform for the Fécamp offshore wind farm, using an integrated scaffolding solution that streamlined cable routing and enhanced safety during installation. The completed cable pull-ins and terminations, delivered under contract to Prysmian Group, yielded incident-free operations and contributed to overall client satisfaction.
In July 2023, the Fécamp Offshore Wind Farm produced its first megawatt-hour and began exporting electricity to the French national grid via its offshore transmission connection, marking first power on the Fécamp export system that links the offshore substation and export cables to shore.
In November 2022, RTE (Réseau de Transport d’Électricité) awarded Prysmian Group a contract to provide inspection, maintenance, and repair services for the export cables connecting the Saint‑Nazaire, Fécamp, and Calvados offshore wind farms to shore, covering the operational export cable infrastructure including the Fécamp grid connection.
Prysmian Group was awarded an approximately €300 million contract by French transmission system operator RTE to deliver 220 kV high‑voltage export cable systems for France’s first three offshore wind farms, including the export grid connection for the Fécamp Offshore Wind Farm in Normandy.
