EstLink 2 single‑pole 450 kV HVDC interconnector cable between Finland (Nikuviken/Anttila) and Estonia (Aseri/Püssi), including subsea and Estonian underground sections.
Nexans Norway AS secured a €180 million turnkey contract from Finnish TSO Fingrid Oyj (together with Estonian TSO Elering) to deliver the EstLink 2 HVDC interconnector cable system between Finland and Estonia. Nexans was responsible for the end‑to‑end design, manufacture and installation of the 450 kV DC integrated return conductor subsea cable, covering approximately 145 km across the Gulf of Finland, and about 11 km of direct current underground cable in Estonia. The scope included route engineering, production of the HVDC submarine cable at Nexans’ Halden plant, fabrication of the land cable, marine installation using the cable‑lay vessel C/S Nexans Skagerrak, burial and protection of the subsea cable, and associated civil works at the landfalls. This contract formed the cable portion of the circa €320 million EstLink 2 project, which entered commercial operation in early 2014.
