Siemens AG, together with Siemens Osakeyhtiö, was contracted as the main EPC supplier for the two EstLink 2 HVDC converter substations at Anttila in Finland and Püssi in Estonia during the construction phase. The consortium’s scope covered the engineering, supply and construction of the converter stations, including HVDC valves, transformers and associated equipment, enabling a 650 MW, 450 kV monopolar interconnector between the Finnish and Estonian transmission systems. The contract to build the converter stations was awarded on 23 December 2010, as part of the approximately €320 million EstLink 2 project, with Siemens’ share reported at about €100 million. The converter stations entered trial operation in late 2013 and commercial service in early 2014, increasing total transfer capacity between Finland and Estonia to 1,000 MW when combined with Estlink 1.
