In October 2016, Elering signed a long-term maintenance contract with Siemens for the EstLink 2 converter plant at the Püssi substation in Estonia. The agreement covers scheduled preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance for breakdowns, emergency preparedness and phone support from the equipment manufacturer. It applies to the converter station’s AC and DC switchgear, transformers, converter, metering, protection and control systems, auxiliary systems and cooling system. The initial term is five years with an option to extend by a further three years, and the estimated cost of scheduled activities is up to €4.3 million over an eight-year period, supporting high availability of the EstLink 2 interconnector.
