In September 2013, installation and jointing of EstLink 2’s underground DC cable sections on the Estonian side were completed, including the transition joint connecting the land cable to the submarine cable. This completion closed the remaining gap in the 170 km DC link between the Püssi converter station and the Finnish landfall, allowing the entire route to be electrically continuous.
