ABB was selected as the turnkey contractor and cable manufacturer for the EstLink 1 HVDC interconnector, providing its HVDC Light technology and environmentally friendly cable system. The contract was formally marked at a signing ceremony in Tallinn on 29 April 2005 between ABB and Nordic Energy Link, the company formed by the Baltic and Finnish utilities to own and operate the link.
