On 11 November 2020, EOLOS deployed its FLS200 floating LiDAR buoy at the site of Wales’ first floating offshore wind farm, the 96 MW Erebus project in the Celtic Sea. The deployment is reported as already completed, indicating that on-site wind and metocean data collection had begun by the time of the article’s publication. The floating LiDAR system was installed in the waters where the Erebus wind farm will be built, providing project-specific resource measurement to support design and development activities for this early-stage floating project. The Spanish floating LiDAR supplier had secured the Erebus contract earlier in the summer with Blue Gem Wind, the joint venture between Simply Blue Energy and Total, and this deployment represents the execution phase of that award. The search-result snippet also references Partrac alongside EOLOS in providing resource measurement technology, underlining a broader measurement campaign at the Erebus site. With the FLS200 buoy in place, the project partners gain access to high-quality wind and environmental data needed for engineering design, environmental assessments, and bankability work, marking a key early development milestone for Erebus’s progression toward construction.
