Fred Olsen Windcarrier was selected to transport and install the wind turbines for the 497 MW EnBW Hohe See offshore wind farm in the German North Sea, located around 90 km north of the island of Borkum. The appointment covered the marine transport of turbine components to the offshore site and the offshore installation of the full turbine set, supporting the project’s construction and commissioning programme. The role was linked to Siemens’ turbine package for Hohe See, which comprised 71 Siemens SWT-7.0-154 turbines. In this delivery model, Siemens confirmed key contractors for execution of the offshore works, with Fred Olsen Windcarrier named for the turbine transport and installation scope. This positioned Fred Olsen Windcarrier as the installation contractor enabling Siemens’ turbine supply-and-install contract to be executed offshore. According to the project timeline referenced in the same report, offshore construction activities were scheduled across 2018 and 2019, aligning with Hohe See’s planned full commissioning in 2019. Fred Olsen Windcarrier’s scope therefore sat within the construction phase of the project and specifically addressed the offshore logistics and installation activities required to erect and complete the turbine array at the site.
