Macquarie Capital acquired a significant minority interest in the EnBW Baltic 2 offshore wind farm on 8 January 2015. The 288 MW project, located approximately 32 km north of Germany’s Rügen Island in the Baltic Sea, consists of 80 Siemens SWT‑3.6 turbines. According to project information, Macquarie Capital purchased a 49.89% equity stake in the wind farm for €720 million, giving the infrastructure investor close to half of the project’s ownership. The remaining ownership continued to be held by EnBW, the German utility that developed and operates Baltic 2. This transaction marked the entry of Macquarie Capital as a financial investor into the project during its late construction phase, ahead of full commissioning later in 2015.
