On 12 February 2013, Siem Offshore Contractors GmbH (SOC), a subsidiary of Siem Offshore Inc., announced it had been awarded the contract by EnBW Baltic 2 GmbH to install the inner array grid cables for the EnBW Baltic 2 offshore wind farm. The scope covers installation of up to 88 km of 33 kV medium‑voltage subsea cables interconnecting 80 wind turbine generators. SOC’s package includes pre‑installation route and boulder clearance, pre‑lay trenching, cable laying, and post‑installation termination, testing and commissioning services. The contract value exceeds the equivalent of USD 100 million. Project works were scheduled to commence immediately and be completed within 24 months, supporting the overall construction timetable for Baltic 2.
