The European Investment Bank (EIB) approved and signed a €500 million loan to support the development of the EnBW Baltic 2 offshore wind farm. The financing contract was signed in Karlsruhe and provides long‑term debt to EnBW Erneuerbare Energien for constructing the 288 MW project, comprising 80 turbines over 27 km², 32 km north of Rügen, in water depths up to 44 metres that require jacket foundations. The EIB documentation lists the signature date as 13 December 2012 and a total project cost of around €1.2 billion, indicating that this concessional loan covers a substantial portion of the capital requirements for Baltic 2.
