In 2020, the Italian Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and Environment (ARERA) adopted a resolution recognising that part of the investment costs of the Italy–Tunisia ELMED interconnection would be recovered through the Italian electricity transmission tariff, establishing a regulated revenue framework for the project on the Italian side.
