Noregs vassdrags- og energidirektorat (NVE) granted concession for a new approximately 3 km long 132 kV subsea cable between Eiksund and Rjånes on the Haugen–Rjånes–Håheim connection in Søre Sunnmøre. The consent allows replacement of the existing 66 kV cables, which have reached technical lifetime and present an increasing risk of oil leakage, with a new cable largely following the current route; the old cables will be removed once the new cable is in operation, and existing onshore joint houses will be replaced by cable termination masts.
