National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) prepared and submitted formal pre‑application consenting material for EGL5 in England, including a request for a Section 35 Direction under the Planning Act 2008 in relation to the onshore converter station element. NGET led the consenting strategy for the English elements of the project, defined the proposed converter station and underground onshore cable works, and coordinated the DCO approach and engagement with local planning authorities to secure the required development consent and onshore grid connection arrangements.
