Project partners expect physical construction work for EGL4 to begin in 2029. This planned start covers onshore and offshore construction phases required to install subsea and underground HVDC cables and to build the two converter stations and associated onshore works. The 2029 start date is part of the project timetable published alongside the preferred-bidder announcements and remains subject to consenting, contract award and detailed programme updates.
