Eastern Green Link 1 is planned to reach full commercial operation in 2029, with the 2 GW, 525 kV HVDC subsea interconnector between Torness in Scotland and Hawthorn Pit in England expected to be fully operational and capable of transmitting electricity from wind farms and other renewable sources to power more than two million UK homes.
