DELAYED +2yr (Apr 2026): Official EGL1 project timeline (easterngreenlink1.co.uk, Summer 2025 newsletter) shows subsea cable installation scheduled 2027-2028. Original summer 2025 target was based on pre-delay Prysmian source (Nov 2023). Project delayed 16 months per Ofgem ASTI penalty exemption decision (Nov 2025). --- The subsea cable-laying campaign for EGL1 was planned to begin in summer 2025 with mobilisation of specialist cable-lay vessels. Prysmian (the cable systems contractor) indicated the use of a Leonardo da Vinci–class cable-lay vessel for offshore installation. The campaign was expected to include both simultaneous lay-and-burial and post-lay burial activities, followed by onshore pull-in and jointing to connect the HVDC system to the converter stations.
