Description
EirGrid awarded NKT a five-year cable service contract for the East West Interconnector between Ireland and Great Britain. Under this agreement NKT provides operations and maintenance services for the b1200 kV, 500 MW HVDC power cables, covering both the offshore and onshore sections. The scope includes inspection and spare part maintenance, fault location, vessel preparedness guarantees, offshore cable handling, as well as off- and onshore jointing works, engineering support and monitoring analysis. NKT supplies specialist jointing technicians, vessels, equipment and tooling under a tailored preparedness plan designed to minimise outage duration in the event of cable damage along the East West Interconnector route.
