An eight-year EnCompass service agreement to provide life-cycle service solutions for the East West Interconnector HVDC link, including the submarine cables between converter stations in Ireland and Wales and associated HVDC assets.
Hitachi Energy Ireland was awarded the EWIC Maintenance and Repair Contractor framework by EirGrid Interconnector DAC for the East West Interconnector. The eight-year agreement, with an initial five-year term plus up to three one-year extensions, covers ongoing maintenance, repair and inspection services for the EWIC HVDC assets in Ireland and Great Britain, including the Portan (Woodland) and Shotton converter stations and the HV cable storage facility in Liverpool. Hitachi Energy provides 24/7 support, planned outages, condition-based maintenance, defect repair, spare parts, installation and training, as well as health and safety and cybersecurity management. The scope includes service solutions for the HVDC link via its submarine and land cables and converter stations to keep the 500 MW, ~260 km interconnector operating reliably.
