EirGrid’s East West Interconnector Project (EWIC) Q1 2011 quarterly report states that onshore works had begun: “Shotton Converter Station construction works have commenced with the initial activities including site preparation and foundation piling.” (Britain section). The same report notes “Construction of the converter stations in Ireland and Wales is now well underway”. This indicates onshore construction commencement occurred by Q1 2011.
