On 24 October 2025, ScottishPower Renewables reported that its first-ever High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) offshore converter station had been successfully installed at the East Anglia THREE offshore windfarm. The press release listing records that this innovative HVDC offshore station was “lifted into place,” confirming that the topside structure for the offshore converter platform has now been installed at the project site. As ScottishPower Renewables’ first offshore HVDC station, the successful lift represents a major technical and logistical achievement for the company within its East Anglia portfolio. The October 2025 topside installation follows an earlier milestone noted in August 2025, when the large steel jacket structure that will house the converter station was reported to have “bedded down” in the southern North Sea. With the jacket foundation already in place, the subsequent lifting and positioning of the converter station topside completes the main physical assembly of the offshore converter platform for East Anglia THREE. This sequence of jacket and topside installation underlines steady progress in the project’s offshore construction phase. The event marks a key step in delivering the project’s HVDC infrastructure, signalling that East Anglia THREE is moving through its planned build-out of core offshore electrical assets as construction continues.
