On 17 April 2024, the Dudgeon Extension project, together with the Sheringham Shoal Extension, was selected as a Pathfinder project for coordinated offshore transmission development under the UK Government’s Offshore Transmission Network Review, enabling the consent application to include an option for an integrated HVAC transmission system within a shared onshore footprint. This designation recognises the extensions, led by Equinor with partners Masdar and China Resources Power for Dudgeon Extension, as a test case for more coordinated offshore grid solutions in the UK.
