EnBW’s Dreekant is a planned 1 GW offshore wind farm in the German North Sea, located about 120 km northwest of Heligoland on an 80 km² development area. The project, promoted by EnBW after securing development rights for the N‑12.3 site, is scheduled for commissioning in 2032 following an approv...

By 18 March 2026, EnBW and contractor Geoquip Marine Operations AG had completed ground investigations at the Dreekant offshore wind farm site, 120km northwest of Heligoland. The campaign involved cone penetration tests at future turbine locations to determine seabed bearing capacity and composition, providing data that confirmed monopile foundations are feasible despite soft top soil layers and will inform detailed foundation design.
Ahead of the Dreekant ground investigations completed by 18 March 2026, EnBW carried out additional geophysical surveys at the project site to map seabed conditions and support safe positioning of boreholes. These surveys were undertaken to characterise the subsurface and ensure that intrusive geotechnical testing could proceed without encountering unexploded ordnance or other seabed hazards.
As part of preparatory works for Dreekant’s ground investigations, EnBW completed geophysical surveys to check for unexploded ordnance (UXO) at planned borehole and turbine locations prior to cone penetration testing. The surveys confirmed that no ordnance was present at these sites, allowing subsequent geotechnical investigations and foundation planning to proceed safely.

On 8 November 2024, German engineering company Jörss-Blunck-Ordemann (JBO) was awarded new contracts by EnBW for geotechnical expert work and pre-FEED design for the 1 GW Dreekant offshore wind project in the German North Sea, marking a key late-development step that builds on JBO’s previous foundation design work for EnBW’s He Dreiht wind farm.
In June 2024, EnBW secured the rights to develop the 1GW Dreekant offshore wind farm in the German North Sea by winning a Federal Network Agency auction for the N-12.3 area, located about 120 kilometres northwest of Heligoland. The award grants EnBW the seabed development rights for Dreekant, which is planned to supply electricity to around 1.35 million households.
