Jan De Nul and Hellenic Cables were responsible for design, production, transport, installation and protection of three 155 kV HVAC grid connection cables with a total length of about 37 km between Nordseecluster 1 and 2 and TenneT’s DolWin kappa platform, as part of the DolWin6 project.
Jan De Nul worked for TenneT on the DolWin6 grid connection system to transport and install three 155 kV HVAC grid connection cables between the Nordseecluster 1 and 2 offshore wind farm sites and the DolWin kappa offshore converter platform. Together with partner Hellenic Cables, Jan De Nul was responsible for the design, transport, installation, burial and protection of the three cable routes, which have a combined length of about 37 km. The cable-laying vessel Isaac Newton transported the cables from Greece and installed them along the routes, while Jan De Nul’s trenching and rock placement vessels carried out burial and rock berm protection, including mattress installation at crossings. These construction-phase works, completed in the 2025 offshore campaign, form the AC export link bringing up to 660 MW of wind power from Nordseecluster 1 and 2 into the DolWin6 HVDC system.
