Supply of 320 kV HVDC XLPE-insulated submarine and land export cables for DolWin5, comprising a 100 km subsea and 30 km land route between DolWin epsilon and Emden/Ost, configured as a symmetric monopole with two parallel cables.
Prysmian Group was awarded a turnkey contract worth around EUR 140 million by TenneT to deliver the export cable system for the DolWin5 offshore grid connection in the German North Sea. The scope covers design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of a 320 kV HVDC XLPE-insulated power cable system comprising approximately 100 km of subsea route and 30 km of land route between the DolWin epsilon offshore converter platform and the onshore converter station at Emden/Ost. As a symmetric monopole with two parallel cables, Prysmian is supplying about 200 km of subsea export cable and 60 km of onshore export cable in total, as well as associated fibre optic cables. Submarine cables are manufactured at Pikkala (Finland) and land cables at Gron (France), with offshore installation performed using Prysmian’s dedicated cable-laying vessels.
