±320 kV HVDC Light export link between the DolWin beta offshore converter platform and the Dörpen West onshore converter station, comprising 2 x 45 km submarine and 2 x 90 km land cables for the DolWin2 grid connection.
ABB was contracted by TenneT to deliver a complete HVDC Light connection for DolWin2, covering both development (system engineering and design) and construction (supply, installation and commissioning). ABB’s scope extended from the 155 kV AC offshore busbar on the DolWin beta converter platform to the 400 kV AC busbar at the Dörpen West onshore substation. It included design, manufacture and offshore installation of the ±320 kV HVDC submarine cables (two 45 km circuits, totalling about 90 km of subsea cable) and the associated underground land cables (two 90 km circuits, about 180 km). ABB also supplied and installed the 155 kV AC submarine collector cables linking the connected wind farms to DolWin beta, totalling around 48 km of subsea cable. In addition, ABB engineered, supplied and installed the offshore converter platform systems and the onshore converter station, providing overall project responsibility and project management through to commissioning.
