On 21 May 2020, the Dogger Bank project companies for Dogger Bank A & B submitted planning applications to East Riding of Yorkshire Council seeking separate planning consent for a series of minor amendments to the consented onshore cable corridor. These amendments arose from a detailed design process undertaken by the Projcos to refine the precise locations of the onshore export cables as part of ongoing measures to maximise project efficiencies and address concerns raised by affected stakeholders. The design refinements resulted in certain cable route improvements being located adjacent to, but outside, the existing Development Consent Order (DCO) Order Limits, meaning they could not be implemented under the original DCO powers alone. Because these works lie outside the DCO boundary, the developers were required to pursue a conventional planning route with the local planning authority. Accordingly, they submitted planning applications covering 12 minor amendments to the consented cable corridor to East Riding of Yorkshire Council. This step represents an activity-specific permitting process focused on onshore cable alignment rather than a change to the overarching DCO itself. For Dogger Bank B, which shares this onshore cable corridor with Dogger Bank A, securing these additional consents is an important prerequisite to implementing the optimised cable design onshore, ensuring the project can proceed with a refined route while remaining compliant with local planning requirements and maintaining stakeholder confidence in the consenting process.
