Dogger Bank A achieved first power in October 2023 when the first GE Vernova Haliade‑X 13 MW turbine, installed around 130 km off the Yorkshire coast, began generating electricity and exporting it via the project’s new HVDC transmission system to Britain’s national grid. This marked the first use of HVDC technology on a UK wind farm and the first time a Haliade‑X unit had been energised offshore anywhere in the world.
