In January 2021, IPTO (ADMIE) released its draft Ten‑Year Development Plan (TYNDP) 2022–2031, which highlighted island interconnections as over 80% of planned investment and explicitly included the interconnection of the Dodecanese Islands alongside other Aegean island links. This draft plan confirmed continued regulatory planning for the Dodecanese corridor that comprises the Rhodes–Karpathos section.
