150 kV AC XLPE three-core submarine power cable linking Thira (Santorini) and Naxos as part of Cyclades Interconnection Phase D.
Hellenic Cables was awarded by Greek transmission system operator IPTO the contract for the Santorini interconnection, the first sub‑project of Cyclades Phase D linking Thira (Santorini) to the mainland grid via Naxos. Under this contract Hellenic Cables is responsible for the manufacture and installation of the 150 kV three‑core AC XLPE submarine power cable between Thira and Naxos, together with the associated underground high‑voltage cable section on Naxos. The cable system forms the Thira–Naxos island‑link interconnector, ending Santorini’s electrical isolation and allowing its load to be supplied from the Hellenic Electricity Transmission System. The work takes place during the construction phase of Phase D and supports IPTO’s wider programme to integrate the Cyclades islands and enable the decommissioning of local oil‑fired generation.
