On 11 August 2023, IPTO issued a contract award decision for the "Study of Supply and Installation of Underground and Submarine XLPE Cables 150 kV for the 150 kV Transmission Line Naxos–Thira", selecting a contractor to design, supply and install the high-voltage AC subsea and underground cable system forming the Naxos–Thira interconnector.
