Supplier for Cyclades Interconnection Phase D : Milos - Folegandros
150 kV AC three-core submarine and underground cable system between Milos and Folegandros, approx. 55.2 km subsea and 8.522 km land, rated 200 MVA, as part of Cyclades Interconnection Phase D.
Prysmian Group was awarded an approximately €150 million turnkey contract by Greek transmission system operator IPTO for the second link of Cyclades Phase D, which connects Milos to Santorini via Folegandros. Within this contract, Prysmian is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of a 150 kV HVAC three-core XLPE cable system, covering both submarine and underground sections. For the Milos–Folegandros section specifically, this includes about 55.2 km of subsea cable and 8.522 km of 150 kV underground cable linking the new GIS substations on each island to the landfalls. Cables are produced in Prysmian’s specialised manufacturing plants, with offshore installation performed by one of the Group’s cable-laying vessels. The project reinforces Greece’s Hellenic Transmission System, enabling integration of the Cyclades islands into the mainland grid and supporting the phase-out of local oil-fired generation.
