Turnkey project for the Lavrio–Serifos and Serifos–Milos interconnections included installation, laying and protection of onshore and offshore cables, implementation of joints and terminations, final tests, and supply of accessories.
Hellenic Cables (the cables segment of Cenergy Holdings) signed a contract with Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO) in the context of the fourth phase (Phase D) of the Cyclades interconnection programme, covering the electrical interconnections Lavrio–Serifos and Serifos–Milos in Greece. For the Lavrio–Serifos interconnector, Hellenic Cables’ scope included the installation, laying and protection of both the offshore (submarine) and onshore cable sections, together with associated works required to complete the cable system. The contract also included the implementation of the necessary cable joints and terminations and the execution of final tests, aligning with a turnkey delivery approach for the cable system package. In addition, Hellenic Cables provided the cable accessories required for the onshore and offshore cable sections. This role related to the construction stage of the 150 kV connection linking the Lavrio substation area in Attica to Serifos, supporting the integration of Cyclades islands into the mainland electricity transmission system and enabling the planned retirement of local thermal generation on the islands.
