By a Greek ministerial decision in November 2006, the Cyclades Interconnection project – which includes the reinforcement of the Andros–Tinos link and thus the Phase B Andros–Tinos–Naxos works – was designated a project of "greater general importance for the country’s economy," formally recognizing its strategic significance for improving supply reliability and reducing generation costs on the interconnected islands.
