The Cronos Energy interconnector, a planned 1,400 MW, 525 kV HVDC link of about 202 km between the Bruegel area in Belgium and Kemsley in Kent, UK, is scheduled to be commissioned and start full commercial operations on 31 October 2032, with two VSC bipole converter stations at each end. This commissioning date refines earlier expectations from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners that the Cronos project, alongside its sister interconnectors, would begin operations sometime between 2030 and 2032.
