Second (eastern) 150 kV three-core HVAC submarine cable system between Crete and the Peloponnese, about 135 km in length, installed in deep water.
Prysmian Powerlink, part of the Prysmian Group, was awarded by IPTO S.A. the contract for the second (eastern) 150 kV HVAC submarine interconnection between Crete and the Peloponnese. During the construction phase, Prysmian was responsible for the full turnkey offshore cable scope, including design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of a three-core XLPE-insulated, double-armoured submarine cable system approximately 135 km long, laid in water depths up to about 950–1000 m. The cable was manufactured at Prysmian’s Arco Felice plant in Italy and installed using the Group’s cable-laying vessel Giulio Verne. The contract, valued at roughly €125.9 million, was awarded on 2 October 2018 and the agreement was finalised with contract signing in November 2018, with commissioning scheduled for 2020.
