Cable protection systems for the western 150 kV HVAC submarine cables of the Crete–Peloponnese interconnection, with two cables each about 135 km long.
CRP Subsea (formerly Trelleborg Offshore UK) was contracted by Hellenic Cables during the construction phase of the Crete–Peloponnese interconnection to design and supply cable protection solutions for the western submarine cable. The company provided three types of ancillary products—Motion Stabilisers, Bend Restrictors with VIV strakes, and Tri‑Strakes Combi VIV suppression strakes—to protect critical sections of the 150 kV HVAC submarine cables along the west route. These systems enhance cable stability on the seabed, mitigating lateral movement, over‑bending, fatigue and cable walking in deep water and complex seabed conditions. The products were manufactured by CRP Subsea and have been successfully installed offshore as part of the overall cable installation campaign.
