Effective 1 August 2021, IPTO assumed operational control of the Crete–Peloponnese 150 kV AC submarine interconnection following the transfer to IPTO of distribution network operator DEDDIE/HEDNO's assets on Crete. The handover placed the newly energised transmission link under the national transmission system operator's management, aligning operatorship of the interconnector with IPTO's wider role on the mainland transmission grid. After the 1 August transfer, IPTO progressed a capacity ramp on the link, raising transmission to near full per-circuit capacity of 150 MW from 26 August 2021, and subsequently staging a trial run on 30 August 2021 that touched 180 MW, the absolute upper limit of the operating mode at that time, ahead of the formal commercial launch of the interconnection on 1 November 2021.
