The Ministry of Environment and Energy and the Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO/ADMIE) announced the completion of the Crete–Peloponnese electrical interconnection, following the completion of construction works at the substations in Chania (Crete) and Neapoli Lakonias (Peloponnese). As part of this milestone, a new substation in eastern Peloponnese and the upgraded existing substation in Chania, which form key nodes of the electrified eastern circuit, underwent successful test electrification along with all sea and land sections of the project, marking a major step in bringing the interconnection into operational service and enabling it to cover about one-third of Crete’s electricity demand.
