Turn‑key ±320 kV HVDC bipole cable system for COBRAcable, approx. 325 km route between Eemshaven (NL) and Endrup (DK), including 299 km subsea and 26 km onshore, manufactured and installed by Prysmian.
Prysmian Group was awarded a turnkey contract worth around €250 million by TenneT TSO B.V. (with Energinet.dk as co-client) for the COBRAcable HVDC interconnector between the Netherlands and Denmark. The scope covered design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of a ±320 kV HVDC bipole cable system running for about 325 km between Eemshaven and Endrup via the German North Sea sector, including approximately 299 km of submarine route and 26 km of land cable (1 km in the Netherlands and 25 km in Denmark). Prysmian produced the submarine power cables at its Arco Felice (Italy) and Pikkala (Finland) factories, with land cables from Gron (France), and installed them using its cable‑laying vessels Cable Enterprise and Giulio Verne plus a dedicated shallow‑water barge. This contract formed the core cable supply and installation package for the construction phase of COBRAcable and was completed with successful HVDC testing and inauguration in 2019.
