On 4 November 2019, Prysmian Group announced that system testing and trial operation of the COBRAcable HVDC interconnector between the Netherlands and Denmark had been successfully completed. The company reported the successful completion of the HVDC test on the submarine interconnector, with the announcement made during the COBRAcable link’s official inauguration events held simultaneously in Eemshaven (NL) and Endrup (DK). The statement also confirmed that the contractor had successfully completed the trial operation phase, demonstrating that the ±320 kV HVDC bipole cable system and associated assets were performing as required over the approximately 325 km route between the two countries. This marked the conclusion of formal testing and trial operation prior to full operational use of the COBRAcable link for cross-border electricity transmission.
